Foreigners in Korea, do you miss your board games from back home? Or are you hanging out with your friends/date and wondering what to do next? Go to a board game cafe to enjoy some heart to heart fun time with your buddies!
The board game cafe that I randomly walked into in Gangnam is called Oro-Oro. It’s a pretty small place. Maybe around 8-10 tables for four people. I went there on Saturday at around 6pm, but by 7pm the seats were filled.
When you get there, you will be seated and given a menu with drinks and boardgames. Each customer must at least order at least 3000 KRW, and you can stay at the cafe as long as you want. Dippin Dots Ice Cream is available for 3000 KRW a cup.
Along with your drink order, you can also order the first game you want to play. If you want to play different games, you can just ask one of the workers or grab one from this pile.
Here are the available games.
There were about 10 pages on the menu, but I missed a few pages.

The games I played with my friends were Halli Galli and Scrabble. For those of you who don’t know, in Halli Galli, there are cards with pictures of 1-5 fruits on each card. Each player takes turns flipping a card from his/her own pile. When the number of the same fruits add up to five, someone has to ring the bell. The one that rings the bell first gets to collect the cards that were placed in the middle. The game ends when there is a player with zero cards.
It was my first time Halli Galli, and since I lost, I got hit by those red plastic hammers as a punishment. I’m horrible at games that require quick judgment…
