September 2016 update: This blog post is not the about the huge official Kakao Friends Store and Ryan Cafe that recently opened.
March 2015 update: I have been told by one of my readers that Cafe Talk no longer sells Kakao Friends goods, but I have not confirmed it yet. If items are unavailable at this store, you could go to the store at Shinchon Station. It is directly connected to the subway station, and there is also a LINE Friends Store right next door.
If you want to make friends in Korea, the Kakao Talk app is essential. In Nonhyeon, Seoul, you can enjoy a Kakao Talk themed cafe.
Location: Go to Line 7 Nonhyeon Station. Get out of exit 3 and walk straight. You should see it on your right within 5 minutes.
*Tip: If Line 7 is inconvenient for you, use Shinsa station. If you go out of exit 3 and walk straight for 10 minutes, you’ll reach Nonhyeon station exit 7.
Hours: 8 am to 11 pm
It wasn’t busy when we went there on Thursday at around 9 pm.
Right when you enter the store, you’ll see a wall full of cute stuff. Socks, plushies, phone covers, stickers, cups, pens, notebooks, eye masks, folders, etc. The back half of the store is the cafe. The only thing that was Kakao Talk themed about this was that they sold some bread that had these characters.
The price of the drinks were surprisingly reasonable! They serve coffee, lattes, ades (fruit soda), tea, smoothies, fruit juice, bingsu (Korean shaved ice), honey toast, and some other pastries.
My friend got herself a medium-sized Muzi. Did you know that he is a yellow radish that’s wearing a bunny suit?
