Irish Pub in Seoul

When you hang out with friends in Korea, you either have 치맥 (chicken with beer) , 삼겹살 with 소주 (pork belly with soju), or 김치전 with 막걸리 (korean pancake with makgeolli) . Even though you love Korean food, you could get tired of that routine.

Baby Guinness is an Irish Pub in Hongdae that will take you away from the usual Korean drinking scene. Seems like there is a good mix of both local Koreans and foreigners.

It is in between Hongdae and Hapjeong station- probably a 10 minute walk from either station. On the second floor above a Korean BBQ restaurant. It’s well known for their dark beer.

My friends and I go there for the Somersby Apple Cider(9,000 KRW, *available for a much cheaper price at emart). I also tried Magners for the first time here. When we first went there, one of the workers gave us free shots, but I have no idea what they were.

*This was my first time trying Magners, so I did not know, but my friends told me that a cup of Magners should not look clear like the picture above. It should look dark and golden.
*May 2016 update: One of the readers commented that it is normal for it to look clear if it is the pear flavor. The apple flavor is the one that should look dark and golden.

The food is delicious here as well.

Greek Salad (12,000 KRW)
Balsamic vinegar

Basket O’Fries (10,000KRW)
The amount is good for 3 people. Good by itself with its cajun spice or with ketchup.

Chicken Wings (11,000 KRW)
From what I remember, it was 6-8 pieces.
Original or spicy flavor served with carrot & celery with ranch.
I recommend the original flavor.

You can enjoy some darts and table football/soccer. I don’t know a thing about darts so I just stare.

It’s not like these are the most comfortable seats ever, but I haven’t felt uncomfortable from spending a few hours in these seats.

If you can, try to go early to get the window seat because it is one of the best places for some day drinking!

  1. That is a Pear Magners, not Apple Original. The Pear is a Crisp Whiter color rather than the Yellow Apple version
